The Triple Threat eighth grade girl's basketball team traveled to Redding to compete in the annual Veterans Day Weekend Tourney on Friday, Nov. 11.

Triple Threat faced teams from Crescent City, Redding and Chico.

Friday was pool play followed by bracket play on Saturday. After pool play, Triple Threat was seeded fourth ending up with a third place finish.

The girls on Triple Threat currently play on eighth grade teams in local schools. While the players are divided between Diamond View, Richmond, Janesville and Shaffer schools, they clearly play well together when united on the court.

Coaches Doug Satica and Mike Giacomelli have had the opportunity to help the girls develop their skills tremendously. In fact, a few girls on the team have been coach by Satica and Giacomelli for the past five years.

"It is amazing to see how their skills have increased over the years. It is truly rewarding to see their confidence grow and grow!" said Giacomelli.

The girls gave it their all throughout the weekend and continued to push the temp from start to finish.

Giacomelli later continued, "This was our first tournament and we couldn't be happier with where their level play is at."
